Volkus Boxes

This is a very simple tutorial on how I completed my Volkus Terrain Boxes. It is a clean and simple scheme but I like how punchy it is.

Green Ammo Box

Paints Used

Nuln OilContrast MediumGreen BeretGung-ho GreenFury Green
  1. Base coat the entire box in Fury Green.
  2. Mix a 1:1 of Contrast Medium and Nuln Oil and apply with a large shading brush. When applying be quite generous, and to wick off the excess. The medium will give you more time and go into the dark areas.
  3. Once dry, dry brush quite liberally with Fury Green. Be sure to go over the entire surface.
  4. Begin to chunky edge highlight with Gung-ho Green.
  5. Finally, edge highlight within the chunky highlight with Green Beret.

Red Ammo Box

Paints Used

Nuln OilContrast MediumEvil Eye RedAsmodeus RedDread Red
  1. Base coat the entire box in Dread Red.
  2. Mix a 1:1 of Contrast Medium and Nuln Oil and apply with a large shading brush. When applying be quite generous, and to wick off the excess. The medium will give you more time and go into the dark areas.
  3. Once dry, dry brush quite liberally with Dread Red. Be sure to go over the entire surface.
  4. Begin to chunky edge highlight with Asmodeus Red.
  5. Finally, edge highlight within the chunky highlight with Evil Eye Red.

White Insignias

Paints Used

WhiteApothecary White
  1. Base coat the entire insignia in White.
  2. Quite liberally but controlled, apply Apothecary White, trying to move the paint into the recesses of the insignia.
  3. Lastly, edge highlight with White to bring it all back together.
